Four People Shot at Howe Community Park – Unauthorized Event Descends into Chaos





Late Saturday evening, an unlawful gathering of a large crowd at the Howe Park area in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento ended in a shooting when between 20 and 25 shots were discharged as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were working to breaking up the gathering.

How Events Unfolded

Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office received calls involving persons reportedly carrying concealed firearms at Howe Community Park in Sacramento. A follow-up call reported a possible physical altercation and individuals fleeing the scene.

Air support was utilized and searched the park but found no evidence of any active disturbance.

Nonetheless, several hundred people had congregated at Howe Park for what deputies referred to as an unsanctioned event. Law enforcement personnel positioned themselves around the park, turned on their emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes instructing attendees to vacate the area through their vehicle PA systems.

As law enforcement was clearing the area, 20 to 25 rounds of gunfire were discharged — causing hundreds to flee in all directions at once.

Those Injured

Four victims — three men and one woman, each in their read more 20s — were taken to Sacramento area hospitals. website Two were treated for immediate injuries, one sustained moderate injuries, and one suffered injuries classified as minor. All four victims were stable. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire responded to the scene and triaged victims at the incident scene.

Scene Details

The shooting took place along the Cottage Way side of the park alongside the Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The Home Depot store was placed under temporary lockdown. Suspect Information

Through scanner communications, it was indicated that a suspect car — described as a Kia vehicle — was detained in nearby Solano County with four people in custody. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were sent to transport the suspects back and take them back to Sacramento County for investigation. Video analysis confirmed two separate shooters.
